HL Deb 18 May 1988 vol 497 c419WA
Lord Chitnis

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the Foreign Secretary, on his recent visit to Malaysia, raised the case of Brother Anthony Rogers and others detained there in November last year under the Internal Security Act, and deprived since then of proper judicial process.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Lord Glenarthur)

My right honourable and learned friend the Foreign Secretary was able to raise in general terms the question of detentions under the Internal Security Act during his visit to Malaysia early in April: Representatives of the Twelve have also discussed the detentions with the Malaysian authorities and have made known our collective concerns.
