§ Mr. McAllionTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services how many pensioners in(a) Scotland and (b) the United Kingdom as a whole lost financially as a result of the Government's recent error in calculating the retail prices index.
§ Mr. ScottIt is estimated that 10,000 pensioners in Scotland and 130,000 in Great Britain were undercompensated for the error in the retail prices index as a result of having more than one benefit paid on a single order book. Of nearly 10 million pensioners, the vast majority were fully compensated for the error.
