HC Deb 17 May 1988 vol 133 c391W
48. Mr. Dykes

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he has reached a conclusion on possible additional Government assistance, following the report of Her Majesty's inspectors, for the provision of in-service education in the London borough of Harrow.

Mrs. Rumbold

The most recent Her Majesty's inspectorate report that refers to in-service training in the London borough of Harrow is concerned with business education in the borough and was based on a survey carried out in autumn 1986. Since then the Government have introduced the local education authority training grant scheme which supports expenditure by local education authorities on in-service training. In 1988–89 grant will be available to support £207 million of expenditure, including £757,000 of expenditure by the London borough of Harrow.
