To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if it is proposed to introduce legislation to amend existing extradition arrangements with the Irish Republic in response to the changes made recently by the Irish Republic.

We have no plans at present to do so.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many persons extradited from the Irish Republic to(a) Great Britain and (b) Northern Ireland, respectively, since the passing of reciprocal legislation by the United Kingdom an the Irish Republic in 1965 have not been subsequently prosecuted;

(2) how many person extradited from the Irish Republic to the United Kingdom under the terms of the Backing of Warrants (Republic of Ireland) Act 1965 have been subsequently acquitted as a result of insufficient evidence.
