HC Deb 17 May 1988 vol 133 cc368-9W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what military facilities in the United Kingdom were used by, or in support of, United States special forces units participating in the recent Flintlock exercise; what was the purpose of this exercise, and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ian Stewart

Exercise Flintlock which is an annual exercise designed to provide mutually beneficial training for allied personnel in airborne operations, communications and ground tactical operations, is still in progress. In line with long-standing practice, elements of the United States armed forces have been deployed this year to RAF Sculthorpe, RAF West Raynham, RAF Watton and to the military training area at Stanford.
