§ Mr. John PattenThe Home Office both undertakes and commissions research in this area. Indicators used to monitor effectiveness include local crime figures which, in some police force areas can now be produced far individual neighbourhood watch scheme areas; surveys including questions on fear of crime; information on the level of local involvement, and assessments of the resource implications for the police.
