Arrangements exist for the routine monitoring of doctors' prescribing of all drugs and where there is any irregularity the health board will investigate and the doctor may be called upon to justify his prescribing. In only a very few isolated instances have there been such investigations into the prescribing of these drugs. Nevertheless in view of concerns about the use of Temazepam and Temgesic by drug addicts the prescribing of these drugs is being specially monitored at present.
