HC Deb 13 May 1988 vol 133 c278W
Mr. David Marshall

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he has as to the numbers of stolen prescriptions which were processed by chemists in each of the last three years.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

Where a chemist is presented with a prescription which he suspects is being used fraudulently, he would not process it but would alert the police. It is not possible to say how many fraudulent prescriptions are not detected at this stage and are inadvertently dispensed.
