HC Deb 13 May 1988 vol 133 cc254-5W
Mr. Moss

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the chief constable's estimate for optimum operational manning levels for police, by division, in Cambridgeshire; how actual manning levels differ from these; what were the statistics for call-outs and completed operations for the Cambridgeshire constabulary underwater unit in each of the last five years; and when he expects to respond to the chief constable's request for increased police manning levels in Cambridgeshire.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

My right hon. Friend intends to announce shortly his decisions on applications for police manpower which we have received from Cambridgshire police authority and from other authorities. The manning levels of the force at present, and as they would be on completion of their proposed programme of increases, is set out in the table, as is the number of operations in which the force underwater unit has been involved.
