Mr. Doran

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) what proportion of the increase in expenditure which will be incurred by each area health board in Scotland as a result of the recent increase in pay for medical and nursing staff will be met by his Department;

(2) what additional payments will be made in cash terms to each area health board in Scotland to meet the costs incurred as a result of the recent pay awards to medical, nursing and other staff;

(3) what is the percentage increase in expenditure in each of the area health boards in Scotland as a result of the recent pay award to medical and nursing staff.

The sum of £92 million is being made available in Scotland to finance the full additional costs of the review body pay recommendations. Health boards will be informed of their additional allocations shortly.
