HC Deb 12 May 1988 vol 133 cc233-4W
Mr. Ken Hargreaves

To ask the Lord President of the Council if there are any plans to reverse the present line of route so that it commences at Westminster Hall and finishes at the Norman Porch; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Wakeham

There are no such plans. This proposal was considered by the Accommodation and Administration Sub-Committee on 10 February 1986 when it was rejected, mainly because of the security implications.

Mr. Ken Hargreaves

To ask the Lord President of the Council if he will raise the present line of route with the Select Committee on House of Commons (Services); and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Wakeham

The arrangements for parties on the line of route are kept under continuous review by the Accommodation and Administration Sub-Committee of the Services Committee. In the past two years, several measures have been introduced to improve these arrangements, on the recommendation of the Accommodation and Administration Sub-Committee and with the approval of the Services Committee.
