To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what revenue has been received by his Department since 11 November 1987 from the payment of fees for subject access to personal records, pursuant to the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1984.

The revenue received by the Ministry of Defence from the payment of fees for subject access to personal records, pursuant to the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1984, is nil.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many applications under the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1984 for subject access to personal records held by his Department he has received since 11 November 1987.

As at 1 May 1988, 4,322 applications under the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1984 for subject access to personal records have been received by the major pay and personnel database centres in the Ministry of Defence.
