HC Deb 11 May 1988 vol 133 c187W
Mr. Hood

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will place in the Library a copy of his reply to the letter of 17 December 1987 from the Minister of Health and Welfare of Canada, the right hon. Jack Epp, regarding British pensioners resident in Canada; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Portillo

[holding answer 5 May 1988]: The Canadian Minister of Health and Welfare, Mr. Jack Epp, wrote to the then Secretary of State for Social Services on 17 December 1986 about British pensioners resident in Canada. A reply was sent on his behalf by my noble Friend, the Baroness Trumpington, on 13 February 1987. I have arranged for a copy of this letter to be placed in the Library.

This letter refers to another reply from the noble Baroness to a letter from Mr. Brian Howe, the Australian Minister for Social Security, on the same issue. As the two are complementary I have arranged for a copy of that letter to be placed in the Library also.
