To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what recent discussions he has had with pensioners' organisations concerning the changes in the social security benefit system; and if he will make a statement.

The social security benefit reforms were among the matters discussed when I accompanied my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister when she met a delegation from the national pensioners' convention on 10 March. The reforms were also discussed when I met a delegation from the National Federation of Retirement Pensions Associations (Pensioners' Voice) on 9 May.
