§ Mr. NewtonThe pay and conditions of service of NHS employees are the subject of negotiation between the management and staff sides of Whitley councils. My right hon. Friend and I have met representatives of a number of individual staff groups and have also held meetings with the health services committee of the TUC. The most recent of these was on 2 February when the subjects discussed included NHS resources, pay and staffing levels, and the Government's internal review of the Service.
