§ Mr. DunnachieTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what provisions are being made in the national curriculum to ensure that the special needs of autistic children will be adequately met.
§ Mr. DunnClause 11 of the Education Reform Bill provides that, where a child in England or Wales has a statement of special educational need under the Education Act 1981, the statement may direct where parts of the national curriculum should be modified or, in exceptional cases, disapplied. This provision could be used to meet the particular needs of the autistic child.
