HC Deb 09 May 1988 vol 133 cc34-5W
Mrs. Dunwoody

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport whether, in the light of the transcripts of the north-west traffic commissioner's hearing against Yelloway Motor Services plc, a copy of which has been sent to him, he remains satisfied that this company and its holding company are fit and proper to hold a public service vehicle licence; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Mitchell

The award of public service vehicle operator's licences is a matter for the trafic commissioner. The commissioner for the north-west traffic area decided, following an inquiry on 28 March, to renew the operator's licence for Yelloway Motor Services on condition that the number of vehicles was reduced to 30, no more than eight of which were double-deck vehicles. He also restricted the number of local services which it could operate to 18.
