Mr. Frank Field

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the research studies referred to in paragraphs 5 and 8 of his Department's statistical bulletin of 2 June 1988 on hospital waiting lists and in the explanatory notes attached to the bulletin, indicating when those studies were carried out and the district health authorities examined by the researchers concerned.

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will give for each regional health authority, district health authority and special health authority, the number of qualified medical secretaries contracted from agencies;

(2) how much has been paid by the National Health Service to agencies for contracting qualified medical secretaries for each regional health authority, district health authority, special health authority and for England as a whole in the last year for which figures are available.
