§ Mr. LuceIn 1988–89, the Museums and Galleries Commission's grant in aid represents 4.2 per cent. of the total planned central Government expenditure on museums and galleries.
§ Mr. BattleTo ask the Minister for the Arts if he will publish his estimated expenditure on(a) the Museums and Galleries Commission and (b) the Museums and Galleries Commission grants to each of the seven English area museum councils and the local museums purchase fund, for the years 1987–88 to 1990–91 inclusive.
§ Mr. LuceThe grants in aid paid to the Museums and Galleries Commission in 1987–88 and allocated to it for the years 1988–89 to 1990–91 are as follows:

It is for the commission to decide 649W how much of its grant in aid to allocate to the English area museum councils. I understand that in 1987–88 its expenditure on the councils was £2.49 million.
