§ Mr. Peter BottomleyConstruction of some sections of the M40 extension between Oxford and Birmingham is already under way. Subject to the outcome of the recent public inquiry, work on the final section between Waterstock and Wendlebury, near Oxford, could start next year to enable the whole motorway extension to be open to traffic in 1991.
§ Mr. PawseyTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will review his conclusions on the adequacy of the proposed two-lane section of the M40 to take anticipated traffic flows up to the year 2000.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThe proposals for the Waterstock to Wendlebury section of the M40 were the subject of a public inquiry which ended in January. Before reaching final decisions on the standard of the road, we will carefully consider all the views expressed. together with the recommendations of the independent inspector.
