HC Deb 05 May 1988 vol 132 c589W
Mr. Mans

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what assessment he has made of the benefits for Britain's food industry of the removal of trade barriers within Europe in 1992.

Mr. Gummer

A wide range of benefits are likely to flow from free access to a single market of 320 million people by the end of 1992, though some of these will, of course, arise from proposals still under consideration. I am sure that the industry itself will be making a detailed assessment of the prospective benefits.
