HC Deb 05 May 1988 vol 132 c585W
26. Mr. Win Griffiths

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what measures he proposes to take to help overcome the problems facing United Kingdom pig farmers.

Mr. Donald Thompson

I refer the hon. Member to the reply which my right hon. Friend gave to my hon. Friend, the Member for Bosworth (Mr. Tredinnick) earlier today.

Mr. David Porter

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what recent representations he has had from pig farmers on monetary compensatory amounts and on the green pound; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. MacGregor

I have received a substantial number of representations on this subject. I have made clear in the Agriculture Council my commitment to fight for the abolition of our MCAs in the pigmeat sector.
