HC Deb 05 May 1988 vol 132 c536W
Sir Hector Monro

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will announce the results for the 1987 season of monitoring the Scottish bathing waters identified under the European Community's bathing waters directive; and if he will make a statement.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

The monitoring results for 1987 are set out in summary form in the table. Nineteen out of 23 waters monitored met the directive's standards. My Department expects to publish shortly a full report on the quality of the bathing waters during the 1986 and 1987 seasons, and I shall make a further statement at that time.
