§ 95. Dr. Michael ClarkTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received about progress the Government are making both bilaterally and multilaterally in controlling the international trade in drugs.
§ Mr. Douglas HoggWe receive occasional representations about the need for international co-operation in the fight against drug trafficking. The Government have helped in achieving progress on a number of fronts: in the United Nations, by our support for its drugs agencies and for current work on a draft convention against trafficking; at regional level through our chairmanship of the Council of Europe's co-operation group on drugs (the Pompidou group); and by various forms of bilateral co-operation, including the provision of financial assistance for drug producing and transit countries and negotiations to conclude agreements with other countries for the enforcement of court orders to confiscate traffickers' assets.
