The Prime Minister

All service officers are required to seek approval prior to accepting an appointment with a defence related business. Particularly senior officers are required to do so before accepting any appointment. The requirement extends for a period of two years after each retirement or resignation. Each application is examined in the light of the circumstances of the proposed appointments including the extent of his involvement in procurement policy. Approval may be withheld for a period of up to two years or some other restriction imposed, including limitations on the areas of work where the individual may be employed.
