§ Mr. MellorWe are committed to the negotiation of an effectively verifiable and global ban on chemical weapons. Encouraging progress has been made at the negotiations in Geneva to this end. However, many complex details remain to be resolved, particularly on verification and arrangements for an international inspectorate, if we are to achieve an effective convention.
