How many pupils in schools in England and Wales, with statements under section 7(i) of the Education Act 1981, are in receipt of physiotherapy provision as a result of a need indicated in the statement, and what proportion of those in need this constitutes.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Education and Science (Baroness Hooper)

Local education authorities have responsibility for meeting the special educational provision contained in a child's statement of special educational needs. Speech therapy and physiotherapy are classed as non-educational provision in the statement and in those cases fall to be provided by the district health authority. Information about this provision is not collected centrally.
