HL Deb 03 May 1988 vol 496 c559WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will place in the Library details of the advice concerning economic and social policies and priorities in the fields of tourism, agriculture and fisheries, science and technology, business enterprise, urban regeneration, training and work experience, given by the advisory committee of senior civil servants to the board of the International Fund for Ireland, at its last eleven meetings; and whether the Secretary of State is ultimately responsible for the advice given.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Northern Ireland Office (Lord Lyell)

While my right honourable friend has responsibility for the advice given by his civil servants on the advisory committee, he is not responsible for the decisions of the independent board of the International Fund for Ireland on the disbursement of funds. Against this background, my right honourable friend does not propose to place in the Library the advice given to the board by the advisory committee.
