§ Mr. Gareth WardellTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport what information his Department holds on the level of grants local authorities give under section 106 of the Transport Act 1985 towards providing, maintaining or improving(a) any vehicle equipment or other facilities intended wholly or mainly for disabled people, or (b) any equipment or other facilities intended to provide assistance for disabled people which are incorporated in vehicles, and so on, designed for the public at large.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyIt is for local authorities to decide what use to make of the powers conferred on them by section 106 of the Transport Act 1985 to make grants towards the provision or adaptation of vehicles to meet the needs of disabled people. The Department does not keep central records of expenditure incurred.
