§ Mr. Freeman[holding answer 29 April 1988]: Personnel dismissed from the armed forces do not receive ex-gratia payments. Since July 1984 they would normally be awarded the basic rate of pension and terminal grant to which they are entitled by virtue of their rank and length of service.
