21. Mr. Wray

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what research is being undertaken by staff at the Torry research station, Aberdeen, into the processing of fish.

Mr. Gummer

The main areas of research concern the preservation of fish, the safety of fish products for the consumer and the utilisation of fish and fish products.

23. Mr. Buchan

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the number of people employed in the Torry research station, Aberdeen; and if he will break that number down by occupational category.

Mr. Gummer

The number of staff currently employed at Torry research station is 115, of which 64 are scientific, professional and technical staff, 27 are in industrial worker grades and 24 are administration group staff.

33. Mr. Graham

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he has any plans to visit the Torry research station in Aberdeen within the near future.

Mr. Gummer

My right hon. Friend has at present no plans to do so; I visited Torry research station in 1986 and hope to do so again this year.
