Mr. Goodlad

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) how many residential places have been provided in the community for patients discharged from mental hospitals in Northern Ireland in each of the last 10 years;

(2) how many residential places have been provided in the community for patients discharged from mental hospitals in Northern Ireland with a primary diagnosis of schizophrenia psychoses in each of the last 10 years;

(3) how many residential places in the community have been provided for patients with a primary diagnosis of schizophrenia psychoses discharged from mental hospitals in Northern Ireland in each of the last 10 years.

Local provision of living accommodation available for those discharged from mental hospitals comprises a wide range of residential types including hostels, group homes, residential and nursing homes and private accommodation run by individual carers. This range of accommodation is operated by the statutory, private and voluntary sectors and is not necessarily solely for those discharged from mental hospitals.
