HC Deb 31 March 1988 vol 130 c699W
Mr. Beggs

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will call for a report from the Chief Constable of the Royal Ulster Constabulary on the progress of inquiries into the losses incurred by Northern Ireland investors with International Investments Ltd. of Gibraltar.

Mr. Stanley

The Royal Ulster Constabulary's fraud squad has been conducting an investigation into the financial affairs of International Investments Ltd. following the collapse of the company in June 1984. I can confirm that papers on the case have been passed to the Director of Public Prosecutions, who directed no prosecution against agents employed by the company in Northern Ireland. The police investigation is continuing into other aspects of the case and it is likely to be some time before it is concluded.
