HC Deb 31 March 1988 vol 130 cc718-9W
Mr. Cran

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has any plans to change the legal dose limits for acceptable levels of exposure to radiation for those working in, or living in the vicinity of, industrial installations.

Mr. Moynihan

My right hon. Friend has no plans for changing legal dose limits for acceptable levels of exposure to radiation. Dose limits, for workers and for members of the general public, are contained in the Ionising Radiations Regulations 1985, which are enforced by the Health and Safety Executive. The Health and Safety Commission has set up a working group on ionising radiations, which is reviewing the subject and will be reporting to the commission in due course.
