To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what has been the increase in gross domestic product per capita in each of the English regions, Wales and Scotland since 1979.

Estimates of gross domestic product per capita were published in the November 1987 edition ofEconomic Trends, a copy of which is available in the House Library.

Increases in gross domestic product per capita between 1979 and 1986 are provided for the specified regions in the table below.
