To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list the number of dispensations made under section 74 of the Transport Act 1985, stating the number of councils for which dispensation has been agreed, and the number of individuals for whom dispensation has been agreed, in each month since the Royal Assent to the Act.

Mr. David Mitchell

Dispensations have been given by the Secretary of State on five occasions to local authority councillors who were also directors of the public transport company owned by their authority. The dispensations enable councillors to discuss and vote on certain matters concerning the company. The details are as follows:
