§ Dr. David ClarkTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what restrictions were placed on the export of sheep from the restricted areas of Cumbria from 20 June 1986 to 2 September 1986.
§ Mr. Donald Thompson[holding answer 28 March 1988]: All sheep in the restricted area in Cumbria were subject to movement restrictions. Movements were 401W authorised from 18 August under specific approvals which precluded the slaughter of marked sheep. Export of live sheep to third countries is not permitted for welfare reasons, other than for the purpose of breeding. All live sheep exported to EC member countries are subject to Ministry veterinary control.
