To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what he is doing to stimulate industrial tourism.

I shall continue to take every opportunity to promote the potential benefits to be gained by companies exploiting their potential as tourist attractions. The CBI is demonstrating support by organising a conference on this subject on 15 September this year at which I shall be speaking. In addition, the English tourist board is to work with the CBI to produce a booklet designed to provide encouragement, advice and information to companies considering entering this field.
