To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has any information as to the total number of managerial and administrative staff employed in patient care in the public and private health services in the United States of America; and what is the total number of administrative and clerical staff employed in patient care in the United Kingdom Health Service.

The administrative and clerical staff employed in patient care, in England, are shown in the table. (30 September 1986 is latest available to this level of detail). Information for other parts of the United Kingdom are a matter for the respective Secretaries of State.
