HC Deb 29 March 1988 vol 130 cc447-8W
Dr. Godman

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has made an estimate of the number of people who will be eligible for family credit in(a) Greenock, (b) Port Glasgow, (c) Strathclyde region and (d) Scotland as a whole in April.

Mr. Portillo

No. I regret that estimates are possible only on a national basis. However, if the proportion of the Great Britain total were to remain the same as in family income supplement, around 54,000 families in Scotland could be expected to receive family credit.
