§ Mr. LeeThe requirement that a person be available for work is a fundamental condition for the receipt of unemployment benefits. It was re-enacted most recently in the Social Security Act 1975.
The condition means that a person must be available for work with an employer and must not restrict their job-seeking, in terms of the hours, days, pay, location or type of employment they are willing to accept, to such an extent that they effectively have no reasonable prospect of securing work within those restrictions.
