To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will estimate the amount of expenditure to be paid out by his Department or agencies responsible to his Department in attracting industry to Scotland in each of the years 1988–89, 1989–90 and 1990–91.

[holding answer 10 March 1988]: Locate in Scotland is the Government organisation staffed jointly by the Scottish Development Agency and the industry department for Scotland, which has responsibility for the attraction of industry to Scotland. The estimated expenditure for Locate in Scotland at current prices in each of the years 1988–89, 1989–90 and 1990–91 is as follows:

[holding answer 10 March 1988]: Locate in Scotland is the Government organisation staffed jointly by the Scottish Development Agency and the industry department for Scotland, which has responsibility for the attraction of industry to Scotland. The cost of running LIS for the last four years in terms of salaries, administration expenses, travel, marketing and advertising are shown in actual cash terms and by conversion to a constant base of 1987–88 price levels in the table.
