HC Deb 28 March 1988 vol 130 c286W
Mr. Foulkes

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what information he has concerning the results of the aerial survey of Uist and Galloway undertaken by the Scottish universities research and reactor centre; what action he proposes to take as a result; and if he will make a statement.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

The results of the survey were presented to Scottish Office officials on 25 March and they are currently being assessed.

The survey was part of a research programme initiated by the Scottish universities research and reactor centre and was one in which the Scottish Office had expressed an interest. Preliminary examination of the result indicates that they are not greatly different from what would be expected for the areas concerned from a knowledge of the rainfall during the passage of the cloud and of other factors.
