§ Mr. NeedhamThe Department of Health and Social Services (Northern Ireland) wrote to all health authorities in Great Britain in May 1987 drawing attention to Northern Ireland's capacity to recruit and train a range of staff, including nurses, for other parts of the United Kingdom. Three regional health authorities subsequently sought assistance to recruit Northern Ireland school leavers into their nurse training programmes. The Northern Ireland National Board for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting has agreed to circulate recruitment advertising material on their behalf and to draw attention to the job opportunities in these regions during school visitation programmes. No health authority has yet asked the Northern Ireland Health and Personal Social Services to recruit and train nursing or any other staff on its behalf.
