HC Deb 28 March 1988 vol 130 c331W
Mr. Goodlad

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services how many homeless persons in England and Wales have previously been admitted to hospital with a primary diagnosis of schizophrenia psychoses.

Mrs. Currie

I regret I cannot give my hon. Friend the information he seeks as it is not centrally collected for England. The information for Wales is the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.

Mr. Goodlad

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) how many residential places in the community will be provided for those discharged from mental hospitals in each health region in England and Wales in each of the next seven years;

(2) how many residential places have been provided in the community for patients with a primary diagnosis of schizophrenia psychoses discharged from mental hospitals in England and Wales in each of the last 10 years;

(3) how many residential places have been provided in the community in each health region in England and Wales for patients discharged from mental hospitals in each of the last 10 years.

Mrs. Currie

The information requested is not available. The number of places in homes and hostels for the mentally ill in each local authority in England is published in "Homes and Hostels for Mentally Ill and Mentally Handicapped People"; a copy of which is in the Library. Information for Wales is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.
