To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what financial incentives there are for the use of liquefied petroleum gas in cars; and if he will make a statement.

Liquefied petroleum gas, when used as fuel for a road vehicle, bears excise duty at half the leaded petrol rate per liquid litre. This gives it a substantial fiscal advantage over petrol.
