§ Mr. MuddTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the hospitals or wards in England and Wales in respect of which he has received notice of(a) permanent closure or (b) temporary closure since 1 November 1987.
§ Mrs. CurrieGeneral information on hospitals approved for closure in 1987 is not yet available. Information on temporary closures is not held centrally. The following proposals for specific closures have been referred for ministerial decision since 1 November 1987. Only closures which have been opposed by the relevant community health councils are routinely referred to Ministers. I refer my hon. Friend to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales for information on hospitals in Wales.
