HC Deb 28 March 1988 vol 130 c351W
Mr. Fisher

To ask the Minister for the Arts what are the terms of reference of the working party currently investigating the British Theatre Association's library.

Mr. Luce

[holding answer 23 March 1988]: The terms of reference are as follows: Given that there is to be no additional public funding of the library, to consider—

  1. (a) whether it is possible for the library to balance its income and expenditure; and
  2. (b) if this is not possible, what would be the best way in which the library's functions could be carried on and to report to the director of the BTA.

Mr. Fisher

To ask the Minister for the Arts what he estimates would be the cost of disposing of the contents of the British Theatre Association's library in relation to(a) relocation and (b) staffing.

Mr. Luce

[holding answer 23 March 1988]: I have commissioned a study of the BTA library, which is to consider, among other things, the best way in which its work could be carried on if it could no longer operate independently. This will include an estimate of costs.
