To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the amount of betting duty collected on-course and off-course in each of the four districts in Northern Ireland in each of the years ended 31 March 1985, 31 March 1986, 31 March 1987, and from 1 April 1987 to date.

No separate figures are kept of the amounts of betting duty collected in Northern Ireland. The on-course betting duty was abolished with effect from 29 March 1987.

The level of earnings in 1988–89 is a projection based on the assumptions given to the Government Actuary for reviewing national insurance contributions in paragraph 3.02 of the Autumn Statement 1987. The single person's allowance, married man's allowance, basic rate limit and rates of tax for 1988–89 are those announced in the Budget on March 15.
