To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what was the nationality of the successful tenderer for the contract to build six air combat manoeuvring system platforms in the North sea; what was the value of the contract and how many United Kingdom-based firms or yards tendered for the contract.

The project referred to is a private venture to which my Department has made commitment.
